Ursula Le Guin is quoted on the cover. What I liked the best are the setting and the themes. It deals quite heavily with identity and culture they provide a major source of conflict.

The science seems too much like magic. Mwinyi is a new addition and while the romance came about suddenly I thought he was a delightful character and just wished we had been able to see more of him. This library book had all three novellas to be read together and I much preferred the continuity of reading the series that way. Read customer reviews find best sellers. Its frequently difficult to remember she is still a teenager and lacks the maturity that only experience can proffer. Her reconciliation is complicated by her familys hostility her physical transformation and the presence of her Meduse friend Okwu. Binti might go against her societys norms quite often but she is still proudly Himba never without otjize the. I dont know what mathematical meditation or treeing are.

Home follows the return of Binti back home to face her family and elders after her first year at the off-world Oomza University. Along the way she literally becomes a part of unlikely families. Some like the Meduse are another species altogether.

So I purchased the trilogy looking forward to experiencing a new worlduniverse through her eyes. Binti has some amazing character development and shows great bravery and commitment to peace which I admired but she is still fragile and the author leaves the ending on a hopeful note. Binti is brilliant and as self-aware as she can be at the age of 16. The warfare plot proceedes in its brutality but is now moved on by a series of unnecessay plot twists that are meant to be shocking but are closer to being gratuitous SPOILER.
